Battelle Energy Alliance dba Idaho National Laboratory Lead Quality Engineer in Idaho

Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Lead Quality Engineer to work in our Environment, Safety, Health and Quality department. Our team works onsite with a 9x80 schedule located out of our North Holms facility in Idaho with every other Friday off.

You will report to the Quality Manager. You will provide expertise to implement INL’s quality program and ensure compliance with DOE, INL, and customer specific requirements.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop quality planning documents, such as inspection plans and commercial grade dedication plans, implementing quality engineering principles and applicable codes and standards.
  • Perform quality reviews of multiple work planning documents, engineering designs, and procurement specifications (e.g., ASME NQA-1 and B31.1).
  • Conduct assessments/surveillances/audits. Act with peers and management to ensure that facility and project activities and related documentation comply with the INL Quality Program and maintain consistency.
  • Maintain required training and proficiency.
  • Help develop the quality program and implementing systems for programs. Provide technical expertise and assistance to project, and facility management personnel relative to quality compliance and implementation issues. Help provide solutions to resolve facility, program compliance issues.
  • Provide mentorship to peers and program facility managers in practical methods to meet quality requirements. Provide training to peers and work organizations in technical aspects of the INL Quality program.
  • Provide technical expertise and assistance to project, facility management and personnel relative to quality compliance and implementation issues. Work with facility senior management on significant matters requiring coordination across organizations lines.

Minimum Requirements: * * Level 3: Bachelor of Science degree in technical field related to Quality (Chemistry, Engineering, or related field) and 5 years related experience OR 11 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree. * Level 4: Bachelor of Science degree in technical field related to Quality (Chemistry, Engineering, or related field) and 9 years related experience OR 15 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree. * Relevant experience determined by level in a Quality field (engineering, operations, manufacturing). * Obtain familiarity with common INL NDE (e.g.., LT, RT, MT, PT, UT, and VT) implementing processes. MT, PT, VT required. * Maintain proficiency with implementing INL ATR Quality Assurance processes. (e.g., PDD-13000, LST-1118, NQA-1, Software Quality Requirements, ASME B31.1 and B31.3 required, ASME Section III, V, VIII & XI required, AWS D 1.1, and AWS D 1.6., and other national quality standards) * Radiation Worker II qualification (Will obtain within first three months of assignment), * INL Lead Assessor qualification (Will obtain within first six months of assignment), * INL/ ATR Quality Engineer qualification (Achieve qualification within first six months of assignment), * INL Quality Assurance Auditor (Maintain within first 12 months of assignment). * *This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.

  • Salary Grade:The pay range for this position is Level 3 ( $75,804 - $155,496). Level 4 ($91,008 - $186,588). At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.

  • TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
