Microsoft Corporation Software Engineer II in Hyderabad, India

We are the Windows Servicing and Delivery (WSD) organization, which is a part of E+D division. Our core mission is to keep customers protected and productive by delivering a seamless and timely servicing experience for our customers in existing and future versions of Windows.

Our Customer Focused Engineering (CFE) team is looking for highly motivated Software Engineers to help us in this mission. You will play a key role in extending and modifying Windows Operating system code for keeping our customer base secure, improving the reliability of the platform, addressing customer reported issues, and developing features to light up new scenarios and devices in the Windows ecosystem (PCs, Phones, Servers, SurfaceHub, Hololens, Azure and more). You would be involved in the Core OS Kernel components of the Windows Operating System .

Responsibilities

  • Develop features to support the Enterprise and Cloud scenarios in Windows.

  • Reproducing, debugging and fixing security vulnerabilities and customer-reported problems.

  • Crafting high-quality, bug-free fixes with minimum application compatibility risk.

  • Adding new features in Windows.

  • Prioritizing your collection of work and delivering fixes in a timely fashion to meet deadlines.

  • Collaborating with escalation engineers and other partner teams across Microsoft to debug, develop, test and ship Windows Kernel fixes and updates.

  • Finding ways to improve products, tools, and processes for long-term benefit for Microsoft and customers.

  • Mentoring junior engineers in the team.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional software development experience.

  • Proven design and problem-solving skills, with an emphasis on quality and engineering excellence.

  • Excellent debugging skills, hands-on knowledge of WinDBG is desirable.

  • Proven communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • The ability to work well in a diverse, global, team-focused environment.

  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent preferred.

  • Experience with relevant programming skills in C/C++, C#, Java or equivalent

  • Ability to understand unfamiliar code bases, and debug server-side, multi-threaded, and highly scalable applications.

  • Experience in working with Windows system level programming is desirable.

  • Demonstrated results working with a global team.

  • Experience with agile/scrum methodologies.

  • Overall understanding of Azure/Cloud infrastructure is desirable.
