Job Title: Phlebotomist

Job Description: Are you passionate about patient care and looking to make a difference in a dynamic healthcare environment? Join our team as a Phlebotomist, where you'll play a crucial role in preparing specimens for laboratory testing and performing screening standards. You'll draw quality blood samples while fostering an atmosphere of trust and confidence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge samples, and update patient information.

  • Greet and treat all customers courteously, ensuring a positive experience.

  • Collect specimens according to established procedures, clearly explaining the process to patients.

  • Provide a calm environment to reduce patient anxiety before, during, and after collection.

  • Demonstrate proficiency with straight and butterfly needles.

  • Accurately match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes, label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required.

  • Ensure 100% accuracy by checking all test requisitions or computer labels against the script.

  • Package specimens for transport and store them according to required temperatures.

  • Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations and attend annual department training.

  • Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills:

  • Venipuncture

  • Phlebotomy certification

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

  • Experience in a fast-paced environment or hospital setting

  • Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting

  • Reliable transportation with at least 4 years of licensed driving experience and a valid driver's license

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • Willingness to travel throughout the assigned geography about 100% of the time

Work Environment: This position will be based at multiple locations:

  • Hyattsville location: Monday and Friday, 7:30 am to 4 pm

  • DC location (NE suite 318, Washington D.C.): Wednesday and Thursday, 7:30 am to 4 pm

  • Both locations are closed on Tuesdays.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $24.00
