Purpose of Position: Performs computerized tomographic & radiographic procedures as requested by providers in a manner consistent with prescribed radiation protection safety standards. Sign on Bonus Eligible! Perform computed tomography scanning & radiographic procedures at a technical level requiring constant attention to technical detail, requiring independent judgment, ingenuity & initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiologic diagnosis Operates control console for patient\'s scan Moves X-Ray equipment into proper position Selects proper imaging techniques & protocols Operates various peripheral hardware & equipment including mobile radiography equipment Operate mobile equipment in the Operating Room, Emergency Room & at patient?s bedside Maintain, set-up & adjust equipment, checking calibration & recalibrating as necessary. Positions patient on examination table & adjusts immobilization devices as required to obtain optimum views of specified area of the body requested by physician as determined by department policy & procedure observing all health & safety precautions, quality assurance & infection control standards. Receive & review requests for radiologic studies. Provide explanation of procedures & answer pertinent questions of patients to reduce anxieties & obtain cooperation. Assumes care for physical & psychological needs of patients during examinations & procedures to insure safety & comfort while preparing for & while undergoing computerized tomography procedures. Assist physician &/or nurse with monitoring & treatment of patients during procedures. Record all required information to provide permanent records of significant &/or functional anatomical or pathologic data obtained. Apply principles of radiographic protection using beam restriction devices, patient shielding skills, & knowledge of applicable exposure factors, to minimize radiation to patients & staff. Applies ionizing radiation to patients according to established practices & procedures. Coordinate work to achieve maximum productivity & efficiency using &/or modifying established procedures, to assure timely completion of work in conformance with department policies & procedures. Evaluates images for technical quality Maintains proficiency in PACS system Maintain adequate radiology records to assure proper identification Assist physician with administration of radiographic contrast media or its direct administration if trained & sanctioned by the radiologist Maintain a thorough knowledge of departmental & Hospital policies & Procedures as they pertain to the job, including the fire & disaster plans. Comply with Infection Control policies & procedures. Participates in activities which promote professional self-growth & development; meeting minimum requirements for continuing education as directed by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists & Massachusetts State Licensing. Maintain an ethical relationship with patients, physicians, personnel & guests & insures patient confidentiality at all times. Consistently provides service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers & co-workers. Performs other work-related duties as assigned or requested. Qualifications: Ability to read, write & communicate in English High school graduate or GED Graduate an American Medical Association (AMA) Accredited Radiography Program Registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Valid Massachusetts State License in Radiation Control Currently registered in Cat Scan (CT) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTBC) in Cat Scan (CT) 3 years? experience as a Radiologic Technologist OR 1 year experience as a Radiologic Technologist at CCH OR 1 year current (within the last 5 years) CT Tech experience Current Basic Life Support required & must maintain certification
