Cape Codder Resort & Spa Aquatics Engineer in Hyannis, Massachusetts
The Aquatics Engineer position requires a professional demeanor and specialize as a Certified Pool Operator (CPO) with experience in swimming pools as well as the ability to oversee and perform a variety of skilled tasks in the regular maintenance and upkeep of aquatics in the hotel facilities waterparks. This position requires a focus on safety and functionality as well as aesthetics to create a great guest experience. The Aquatics engineer must be trustworthy and reliable in providing service and maintenance. This position requires excellent knowledge of swimming pool equipment and maintenance. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To ensure success as an Aquatics Pool Service Technician you must have excellent knowledge of swimming pool equipment and maintenance, be able to work with hazardous chemicals, and interact with clients in a friendly and professional manner. The following duties are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. Work on pool maintenance activities on a wide range of swimming pools, splash pads, fountains, spas, PVC plumbing, pool filter room work. Perform repairs and replacements of the following: Piping materials (PVC,) from ?-inch to 12-inch diameter. Check, gate, ball valves. Pumps, heaters, UV units, and chemical feed systems. Perform routine CPO and water quality chemical testing and site inspections. Routes material and equipment to staff and relays appropriate information about the job to staff. Provide customer service and meet with customers to diagnose problems and perform repairs. Complete reports in a timely manner. Provide recommendations for improvements that could be useful on future work. Advance professionally by attendance at appropriate lectures, seminars, and short courses. Prepared to be available to provide 24hr service for emergency repairs. Work weekends and overtime occasionally. Knowledge in a wide range of repair and construction activities. Possess or ability to obtain 10-hour OSHA certification and CPO (Certified Pool Operator). Ability to meet deadlines. Performing regular pool service and preventative maintenance Test the water\'s pH levels and add chemicals as needed. Empty skimmers and pump strainer. Vacuum the pool and remove debris from the floor. Brush steps, walls, and tiles. Skim debris off surface. Backwash filters. Record work performed. Repair malfunctioning equipment as needed and/or schedule repairs by outside vendors. Maintain inventory of chemicals, parts, and supplies as needed. Position reports to the Director of Engineering. A minimum of one year\'s similar job experience is required. Previous experience in a resort environment is preferred. The candidate should be able to work both independently and as a team. Minimum 6 months of related work experience. Certified Red Cross Lifeguard training certificate or equivalent. American Red Cross standard First Aid certified. Other Requirements - Certificates/Licenses Must have successfully completed and kept updated licensing course as a CPO. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Ability to read policies and procedures. Ability to write. Ability to speak effectively and courteously with customers, both in person and on the phone Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
