Job Title : Safety Manager

Location : Onsite in Hutchins, TX (1096 S Interstate 45 Service Rd, Hutchins, TX 75141)

Job Schedule : Monday-Friday (8:00 AM-5:00 PM)

Travel Requirements : Up to 70%

Job Summary : Safety Managers ensure the safety and compliance of an organization with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards. They play a crucial role in identifying and mitigating risks, developing and implementing safety programs, and ensuring adherence to legal and regulatory requirements. They conduct risk assessments, identify potential hazards, and develop strategies to mitigate risks. They also provide training to employees on safety protocols, investigate accidents or incidents, and ensure compliance.

Day in the Job Preview : Safety Managers ensure organizational compliance with laws and industry standards, leading risk assessments, conducting root cause analyses on incidents, and managing safety training programs. They collaborate with various teams, investigate accidents, and develop strategies to mitigate risks and ensure a safe working environment.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Lead investigations and conduct root cause analyses on accidents and injuries. Assign driver coaching opportunities, counsel drivers, and maintain DOT registers and accident files.

  • Review Lytx footage to further investigate accidents and unsafe driving behaviors. Support Lytx coaching efforts.

  • Manage Driver Coaching Event (DCO) stops. Communicate with operations and trainers to ensure drivers complete their remedial training requirements within provided timeframes.

  • Assign and manage Skills Enhancement Training (SET) videos within the LMS platform. Manage related events following safety-related incidents.

  • Keep all data entry and tracking results current. Stay updated on CSA basics to support the compliance team.

  • Partner with the Weather Team on current and upcoming weather-related events.

  • Support new and existing safety initiatives that will require travel up to 70%.

Job Requirements:

  • Successful completion of a CRST background check and drug screen is required.

  • High school diploma or GED is required.

  • Minimum 1 year of safety transportation experience.

Ideal Experience and Skillset:

  • AA or BA degree.

  • OSHA 10 certification.

  • CDL-A or CDL-B license.

  • Basic understanding of the transportation & logistic industry.

  • Critical thinking skills.

  • Self-starter who takes initiative and doesn't require constant direction.

  • Effective and professional communication skills (internal departments, customer interactions on-site, and presentation skills in meetings).

  • Professional demeanor.

  • Computer literacy is essential.
