We seek a Senior Research Scientist with an outstanding track record in Quantum Computing, Quantum Chemistry or in Quantum Simulation to join IBM Research UK .
The work location for this role is the IBM Hursley Lab outside Winchester. IBM has a hybrid work model with 3 days onsite expected.
Your Role and Responsibilities
We are looking to hire a Senior Research Scientist to lead our Quantum Computing Group in the area of Quantum Chemistry and Quantum Simulation.
The ideal candidate would have a PhD degree in theoretical physics, theoretical computer science, applied mathematics, or a related field and would have several years of research experience in quantum computing, quantum simulation, quantum chemistry, quantum information or related areas.
This job entails both a high degree of autonomy and the expectation to collaborate with others in a research and development environment through the Hartree National Centre for Digital Innovation and its clients. Candidates are expected to publish and present high-impact results and to work closely with other members of the team.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
In-depth experience in quantum computational methods for chemistry or material science, quantum simulation, quantum information, or quantum algorithms
Experience of leading technical teams
Ability to lead implementation of prototypes.
Strong proven track record of scientific impact and technical accomplishments.
Strong skills communication scientific topics to stakeholders with different backgrounds.
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
Experience with identifying and winning grant applications.
Experience with Qiskit.
