Job Description:

The Aerojet Rocketdyne segment has a collection of manufacturing advancement projects aimed at optimizing manufacturing processes through the investigation of unique and novel alternatives. The selected IR&D ideas are prioritized based on their quantifiable impact to Return-To-Green (RTG) activities, de-risking process development driving capital expenditures and overall advancement of common process in rocket motor manufacturing. The project manager will act as a focal point for IR&D projects and lead cross-functional teams by managing scope, resources, funding, and schedule. The position requires understanding of cross-functional dependencies, financial strategy, good technical acumen, and ability to effectively communicate to executive leadership.

Essential Functions:

  • Planning, execution, and delivery of IR&D projects with a focus on Industry 4.0 and process optimization, on budget and schedule, ensuring they align with the organization’s strategic vision and tangible business results.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project objectives, scope, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with business requirements and priorities.

  • Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets, and manage resources to ensure successful project execution within established constraints.

  • Monitor project progress, identify risks and issues, and implement mitigation strategies to keep projects on track and within budget and schedule.

  • Communicate project status, milestones, and key insights to senior management and stakeholders, providing regular updates and recommendations.

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior engineering experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior engineering experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior engineering experience.

  • 4 years experience in project management and managing cross-functional teams.

  • 4 years e xperience in manufacturing processes, preferably in aerospace and defense industry.

  • 3 years experience proven ability to develop business cases and performing Return on Investment (ROI) analyses.

    Preferred Additional Skills:

  • PMP certification is preferred but not required.

  • Experience accelerating delivery dates for administrative deliverables.

  • Experience with earned value management and risk management is preferred.

  • Background in Engineering and/or technical development is preferred.
