Description

Leidos Defense Systems is seeking a talented Software Engineer to join a diverse team in Huntsville, AL to create unique solutions for complex Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS) problems. We have offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, we provide responsive, cost- effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions.

Primary Responsibilities

This position will join a dynamic software team in developing applications for distributing control of multiple unmanned aircraft and airborne sensors to networked clients, as well as developing and integrating onboard flight autonomy. This cross functional team utilizes Agile practices, including highly collaborative programming and test-driven development in a fast-paced environment. This project involves working with C#/.NET Core, real-time WebSocket communication and utilizes Jenkins and GitLab for DevOps. Team members participate not only in software design and development, but also in software testing, simulation and flight testing, and customer demonstrations, onsite with our government customer.

Basic Qualifications

  • BS Degree in Computer Science, Math, or another applicable STEM field.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience working within a disciplined software development project environment.

  • Demonstrate strong competency in object-oriented software development in C#.

Experience in the following required :

  • Source control tools such as git.

  • Developing software in a Windows environment

  • Deploying software to containerized environments.

  • Web development using frameworks like ASP.NET or React

  • Implementing and documenting APIs

  • Writing unit tests

Preferred Qualifications

.

  • Experience with containerization software like Docker or Podman.

  • Competent in bit/byte level parsing of binary data formats such as Protobuf and STANAG-4586.

  • Experience developing software using C based languages.

  • Experience optimizing autonomy algorithms for embedded devices.

  • Experience in command and control of unmanned aircraft is a plus.

  • Experience with DevOps tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Gitlab is a plus.

  • Experience writing end-to-end automated tests is a plus.

  • Experience using RTI DDS is a plus.

Must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.

Must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $65,000.00 - $117,500.00
