SAIC Senior System Administrator in HUNTSVILLE, Alabama

Description

SAIC is currently seeking a System Administrator in Huntsville, AL to support the mission of the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command (DEVCOM) - Aviation and Missile Center (AvMC) to install, configure, and troubleshoot Microsoft Windows operating systems.

The primary scope of work for the position includes system administration for the Pacific Warfighting Center, which is a component of US Indo-Pacific Command (INDOPACOM) as it executes technical support for INDOPACOM's Joint Exercise Program.

NOTE: This position is onsite in Huntsville, AL and requires 10+ weeks of travel per year.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Perform operational maintenance and system administration, provisioning, and upgrades for operating systems, applications, workstations, firewalls, networks, and servers ensuring compliance with established standards and policies

  • Participate in forward deployments to locations under the USINDOPACOM responsibility to provide SA/IT support for war game exercises. Forward deployments could involve up to four weeks of TDY.

  • Attend site surveys and event planning conferences at USINDOPACOM partner nations to architect the SA/IT solution necessary to accomplish the exercise training objectives and training audience requirements

  • Coordinate and performing complex software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages. Scheduling installations and upgrades and maintain them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures.

  • Ensure workstation/server data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions of varying complexities

  • Ensure data/media recoverability by developing and implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations

  • Analyze customer requirements and translating them into architecture designs and technical solutions leveraging physical hardware, virtualization, and private cloud technologies

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors and five (5)+ years of related experience; additional four (4) years of experience accepted in lieu of degree

  • Installation, configuration, and advanced troubleshooting experience with Microsoft Windows operating systems (additional Linux operating systems experience desired)

  • Experience with design, implementation, and operations of server and/or virtualization technologies

  • Familiar with creating, monitoring, and troubleshooting wireless access solutions such as Aruba OR Cradlepoint etc.

  • Familiar with Virtual desktop Infrastructure (VDI) design implementation and administration

  • Understanding of networking concepts such as vLAN tagging, subnetting, routing, link aggregates, LACP, trunking, etc.

  • Knowledge of Federal and Department of Defense (DoD) Guidance, STIG compliance, NIST RMF, eMASS, and DoD Authorization and Assessment processes

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Must have a current CompTIA Security+ CE certification

REQUIRED CLEARANCE:

  • Must be able to obtain a full Secret Clearance; Interim Secret required prior to start, SAIC will help to obtain

  • Must be a current US Citizen
