The Building People Jr. Construction Project Manager (TS Cleared) in Huntsville, Alabama

The Building People, LLC, has a position open for a full-time Jr. Construction Project Manager with a active Top Secret Clearance for a facilities engineering program to support a federal Agency. The Entry-Level Construction Project Manager will support Agency related construction, design/build, and architecture and engineering, space management, facilities management, real estate, and leasing of large and complex construction projects involving multiple areas.

Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • As required, provide on-site construction management support during mobilization, site preparation, construction, fit-out, commissioning and occupancy.

  • Assists the assigned Program Manager and/or COR, Senior Construction Project Manager and Construction Project Manager in the planning, management direction, project completion, client satisfaction, and financial outcome of assigned construction projects.

  • Interfaces with clients to define project requirements. Majority of issues are tenant improvements and finishes.

  • Monitors all phases of construction including design, compliance, construction, occupancy, quality control, staffing, and budget management.

  • Assists in the coordination of various events in the planning, ordering, installation, and follow-on life cycle.

  • Participates in coordinating the personnel and resources required to complete the project.

  • Assists with managing paperwork and multiple projects, maintains, and updates status logs, and contributes to progress reports produced for clients.

  • Assists in the development of Statements of Work (SOWs), cost estimates and budgets, timelines and schedules, follows-up on pre-installation activities, prepares reports for Project Managers on the status of all services provided for specific technology projects, coordinates and assists in the development of electronic and written materials for project management proposals, presentations, and status updates.

  • Reviews schedule and aligns project work plan and deadlines with requirements.

  • Monitors on-site processes, procedures, and systems for compliance with construction drawings, security requirements, and code compliance.

  • Assists PM in tracking progress of project against goals, objectives, timelines, and budgets.

  • Facilitates client meetings regarding project matters.

  • Works closely with other functional areas of the organization, project contractors, internal team members, external collaborators, customers, and suppliers.

  • Conducts customer satisfaction assessments electronically, by phone and/or in person, uses computer applications such as spreadsheets, word processing, calendar, and e-mail and database software in performing work assignments.

  • Assists the PM in coordinating all contractual requirements, design drawings, and project specifications that include but are not limited to: On-site Project Management, Earned Value Management and Project Controls, Contractor Billings, weekly meetings, meeting minutes and documentation, project monthly report generation, change management reports, contract administration, punch-list management, warranty review and procurement, as-built document procurement.

  • Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications and Education Required:

  • Active Top Secret Clearance

  • A BS or BA in construction management or related field plus 1 year work experience or 3 years work experience within the construction industry in lieu of the education requirement.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects/activities in a dynamic fast-paced environment.

  • Superior communication and organization development skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with and manage cross-functional teams.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office and industry project management software.

  • Must possess skills, experience and capabilities in OSHA certification, project scheduling, and document control.
