The Work

Become a part of something meaningful! Ground Missile Defense (GMD) is the heart of the Missile Defense System and a key element of our nation’s defense against ballistic missile attacks.

The GMD Weapon System processes data from multiple sensors to identify and characterize the inbound ballistic missile threat, plans the best defensive solution, and launches the intercepting missiles to negate the threat.

We're looking for a Subject Matter Expert in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Circuit Design supporting the development of GWS Hardware Engineering who is able to engage in complex design development and mentor junior engineers as needed.

As an Electrical Engineer, you will support the GMD Weapon System (GWS) Hardware Engineering team's design efforts and work within an Agile environment. Your core tasks will entail the development of electrical component design solutions. Under the direction of your product line owners, responsibilities include developing and evaluating electrical circuit design efforts, scheduling and planning required tasks, leading small teams, and writing reports to support milestone reviews. Accountability and active participation in team scrum meetings and internal/external demos, and documenting progress on team dashboards is expected.

Basic Qualifications:

• BS in Electrical Engineering and 9 Years of Experience Or 7 Years of Experience and a Masters’ degree within a desired STEM field

• Active US DoD Secret Security clearance is required.

• Prior experience with the design, test, and/or integration and deployment of electrical components, electrical ground support equipment (EGSE), or subsystems

• Understanding and application of industry electrical engineering technical standards; demonstrated electrical component design experience and impact assessment

• Experience with circuit design and application

• Experience using analytical software tools, such as MATLAB or Python, to analyze and reduce data to identify key characteristics and trends

• DOORS and/or CAMEO exposure

• Experience in Systems Engineering "V" lifecycle

• Demonstrated experience in electrical power distribution and design systems.

• Ability to interpret and develop electrical schematics

• Experience with requirements-driven hardware design and circuitry design

• Demonstrated expert-level understanding and application of electrical standards

• Experience with classified test systems or systems subject to cyber security policies and risk management framework (RMF) engineering technical standards.

• Experience with analog and digital circuit design

• Experience with printed circuit board design and layout using ECAD tools

• Ability to present engineering materials for requirements, design, and various milestones

• Experience in Agile Development

• Ability to show self as team player, able to multi-task, able to generate quality work products independently, able to make excellent judgement and show interpersonal skills.

• Experience evaluating commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) parts for compliance.

• Experience Researching, developing, designing and testing circuits, components and equipment systems.

• Ability to travel at least 10%

Desired Skills:

• Formal Release of engineering documentation including technical drawings, specifications, and test procedures

• Burndown of non-conformances and/or root cause failure analysis of electronic systems

• Problem solving not only for technical issues, but also for schedule, cost, resource and other project challenges.

• Mentoring and cross-training team members on a diverse set of technologies and electrical system architectures used to meet customer requirements.

• LabVIEW programming and experience with National Instruments (NI) hardware and software products

• LabVIEW FPGA development experience

• Experience with telemetry systems

• Experience with mission critical and safety critical systems, components, connectors, cables, etc.

• Familiarity with Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Core Standards: MDA-QS-001-MAP, MDA-QS-003-PMAP, MDA Instruction 5000.20-INS (ETR Process)

• Familiarity with MIL-STD-1901A, MIL-STD-882, EWR-127, RCC 319, RCC 324, DoDEA 8510.01, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464, IEEE 802.3u, IEEE 802.3ab, ECSS-ST-50-11C

• Familiarity with the GMD domain and GMD Launch Support Systems hardware

• Experience in Siemens Xpedition.

• DAR development exposure.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
