BAE Systems EO/IR Systems Engineer in Huntsville, Alabama

Job Description

Ready to make a difference? BAE Systems is looking for Systems Engineers to work as part of a cross-functional, multi-disciplinary team to design, integrate, debug, and test next generation EW systems. We are looking for highly motivated, self-directed individuals to focused on delivering innovative Electronic Warfare (EW) Electro-optic/Infrared (EO/IR) Systems. Individual technical contributions on a related range of Programs will include system planning, Model-Based Systems engineering (MBSE), requirements analysis and decomposition, integration & test planning and execution.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Working on a team of Systems Engineers responsible for developing EO/IR related systems and components

  • CONOPS development and operational analysis

  • Systems planning and requirements decomposition, development, and allocation

  • Developing work products such as interface and system specifications

  • Manage and participate in trade studies, peer reviews, and customer meetings

  • Leading product design, development, integration, and verification

  • Creating system test plans, procedures and reports

  • Interface with customers, other contractors and government officials.

  • Preparing and delivering technical presentations internally and with customers.

  • Monitor and report metrics such as System Technical Performance Measures

  • Supports proposal development activities, including proposal text development, cost and schedule estimating, and presentation activities.

  • Model based systems engineering (MBSE) development responsibilities for program or project.

This position will require you to be onsite in Huntsville, Alabama. Because of the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and/or the requirement to perform all work onsite due to the nature of this particular role, it will be performed full-time on site . This means work will be conducted on location at a BAE Systems facility 100% of the time.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree of Science (or equivalent experience in a relevant field) with a minimum work experience of:

  • 8 Years with BS

  • 6 Years with MS

  • 4 Year with PHD

  • US Citizenship possessing an Active Secret Clearance and be eligible for Top Secret/SCI/SAP/SAR clearance

  • Bachelor s Degree in Engineering or related STEM field with 8 years related experience; Master's degree and 6 years related experience; or Ph.D. and 4 years related experience

  • Experience with System Level CONOPS development, operational analysis and requirements development, specifically with EO/IR Sensor technologies and/or laser countermeasure systems.

  • Experience developing Technical Performance Measures, testing and measurement techniques

  • Proficient with Magic Draw, Cameo and/or related MBSE products

  • Practical application of IBM Rational DOORS Requirements Management tool

  • Expert in effectively documenting, communicating, leading and working with a team on designs, results, reports, and presentations.

  • Experience performing systems engineering activities across the development cycle (analysis/decomposition/derivation/allocation of requirements, system design & development, system integration & test)

  • Experience developing viable concept solutions, identifying and tracking technical risks, and leading technical teams.

  • Development of test plans and procedures with traceability to requirements

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Experience with EW and Missile Defense Systems

  • Mixture of experience leading engineering teams with cost account management and schedule responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership experience or potential to direct and mentoring engineers on complex programs

  • Project/Program team member responsible for workflow, which is dynamic in nature.

  • Experience with technical performance measurements and cost account management.

  • Familiarity or prior experience with Agile Systems Engineering

  • Python, C , and/or MATLAB software development a plus

  • Hands on experience with lab equipment set-up, configuration, troubleshooting and test execution.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $115100 - $195700

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
