JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Willbrook team is looking for a Systems Engineer to join our team! In this role you will support the Missile Defense Agency's Chief Architect's (MDA/CA) office working to define the future of Missile Defense through conducting and evaluating System Architecture Trades/Studies.

Your role will be contractor support responsible for coordinating and assisting in the development of joint architectures addressing ballistic, hypersonic and cruise missile threats to protect the homeland, regional warfighters, allies and friends. Plan and execute projects involving prime contractors, other MDA offices, and FFRDC. Assist in drafting requests for Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) and architecture studies that will explore relevant threats, capability gaps to be addressed, future architecture options, and other recommendations. Support the evaluation future architecture elements and technology enablers that support ballistic, hypersonic and cruise missile defense. Assist in the development of top-level architecture requirements documentation that support the acquisition of new capabilities and prototypes.

RESPONSIBILITIES and TASKS:

  • Coordinate and perform Missile Defense Architecture Trade Studies, analyzing candidate architecture options for cost, performance and schedule and down-selecting options based on results. Prepare and deliver briefings and supporting data in support of an Architecture Requirements Package (ARP).
  • Assist with identifying and defining missile defense architecture gaps, challenges, needs, opportunities, and potential system mitigations
  • Support development of processes and procedures regarding efforts to provide, trade, and present architecture solutions in support of closure of Missile Defense System capability gaps.
  • Coordinate with FFRDCs and UARC partners on architecture trade study data and results through working group discussion. Document findings, assumptions, and tools used in trade study efforts.
  • Provide regular input in support of government leadership to reports and weekly charts involving task status, action item tracking, risks, and schedule.

REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 12+ years working on missile defense-related or other complex, large DoD program/project
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Applications
  • Able to work independently and/or lead teams to analyze and resolve problems

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Develop and review technical memorandums, white papers, and briefings supporting findings and conclusions of analyses
  • Works independently, applying engineering rigor to analyze and resolve problems within a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Experience implementing systems engineering "V" processes
  • Ability to self-manage and initiate within team structure
  • Ability to decompose complex problems to actionable elements
  • Ability to work across organizational boundaries
  • Ability presenting complex information and concepts to Leaders at various levels
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Working knowledge of MDA Systems Engineering processes and procedures
  • Working knowledge of MDA organizational structure
  • Working knowledge of Missile Defense System (MDS) architecture and concept
  • Model Based Systems Engineering Experience
  • Digital Engineering strategies
  • Working knowledge of CAMEO and/or Benchmark modeling systems or other MBSE software

SECURITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master of Science or Master of Arts degree or BA/BS and 20+ years of experience in lieu of the MA/MS requirement
