Business Development SME

JHNA is seeking a Board Advisor and experienced Business Development Subject Matter Expert. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of and pre-existing client/customer relationships in the Huntsville, AL market. This is a 1099/consultant position.

This individual will support JHNA's efforts to gain deeper customer insight and help strengthen JHNA's relationships with new and potential clients including CCDC-AVMC, TDD-Missiles, S3I, SRD, PEO Aviation, and PEO Missiles and Space.

The SME's support will help JHNA develop greater insight when it comes to client needs, competitors, emerging opportunities, and budgets to create approaches to shape opportunities and win new work. The consultant will play a crucial role in the market positioning and opportunity assessment phases of business development and will work closely with our team to develop comprehensive capture strategies.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leverage existing and develop new client relationships in order to provide critical insights on DoD customer needs, competitors, budgets, and emerging or existing opportunities.

  • Collaborate with the CEO and CGO to identify and qualify potential business opportunities within the applicable organization.

  • Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of the JHNA's core capabilities and services to ensure alignment with new business opportunities.

  • Lead and support customer relationship development with key decision-makers, partners, and stakeholders.

  • Support JHNA's efforts to stay up-to-date with industry trends, customer priorities, and competitor activities to ensure the organization remains competitive.

  • Assist in the development of capture plans, including win themes, discriminators, and value propositions based on client intel.

  • Support the preparation of proposals by providing strategic input and guidance consistent with previously vetted capture plans.

  • Provide regular updates on capture progress, including status updates and risk assessments based on client intel.

    Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Engineering or a related field. Master's degree preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships within the specified target market: CCDC-AVMC, TDD-Missiles, S3I, SRD, PEO Aviation, and PEO Missiles and Space.

  • Minimum of 20 years of experience in government contracting (or similar experience) within the defense sector.

  • Strong understanding of the federal acquisition process and procurement regulations.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

    This opportunity allows former senior government officials, retired military leaders, senior market executives, federal acquisition professionals, and industry leaders to focus on providing their expertise to meet JHNA's growth and market intel needs. Current consultants or those that are interested in consulting should apply. This position is a 1099 consultant role and does not include benefits such as health insurance or paid time off. Compensation will be based on the consultant's experience and qualifications. On a case-by-case basis, JHNA may consider a part-time employee structure.
