The purpose of this position is to provide casework and counseling services involving the care, treatment, and rehabilitation of substance-abusing/dependent inmates. DESCRIPTION OF WORK As a Drug and Alcohol Treatment Specialist 2 for the Department of Corrections, you provide alcohol and other drug treatment services to the inmate population within both the outpatient and therapeutic community programs. You also conduct initial assessment interviews, make preliminary recommendations for programming needs, provide individual and group therapy, and monitor or coordinate self-help groups.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment, 40-hour work week Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55. This position is also being posted as a Drug and Alcohol Treatment Specialist 1. Interested candidates will need to submit separate applications to be considered for the alternate job title. Salary:Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $60,693.00 (before taxes). Please check your email, including spam/junk folders, for these notices.   REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

One year of experience as a Drug and Alcohol Treatment Specialist 1; or Two years of professional experience providing drug and alcohol counseling services directly to clients in a social work setting; and a bachelor's degree that includes 18 credits in the behavioral sciences; or One year of para-professional and one year of professional experience providing drug and alcohol counseling services directly to clients in a social work setting; and certification by the PA Chemical Abuse Certification Board as a "Certified Addictions Counselor"; or One year of professional experience providing drug and alcohol counseling services directly to clients in a social work setting and a master's degree with major coursework in addictions science, psychology or social work; or An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 18 college credits in the behavioral sciences.
