I. SECRETARY Department - District Justice Supervisor -- Deputy Court Administrator and Court Administrator Date Revised -- December 2017 II. Job Statement This position exists to assist with the administrative/clerical duties associated with the District Justice's office. III. Job Duties/Responsibilities 1. Assist with all administrative/clerical duties including typing, filing, and mail handling pertaining to District Justice business. 2. Greet public and assist with District Justice business in person and by telephone. 3. Process all criminal, civil, traffic, and non-traffic cases, search warrants and any other legal proceeding filed in District Justice office. 4. Process payments, prepare daily bank deposit, reconcile checking account, prepare State reports, and meet with County and State Auditors and needed. 5. Prepare, file and distribute legal correspondence 6. Schedule hearings and maintain files. 7. Must be willing to fill in at other MDJ offices within Huntingdon County as needed 8. Able to react productively to change and handle other essential duties as assigned. 9. Must be willing to fill in at Central Court in Huntingdon County as needed. IV. Job Specifications A. Education - High school diploma or equivalent B. Experience -- One year Clerical experience C. General Requirements Good working knowledge of office and legal terminology, proficient in Microsoft programs, general bookkeeping and strong organizational skills Good knowledge of business arithmetic and English grammar. Secretary/Computer Operator - 2 Ability to speak and write English effectively. Ability to type from clear copy or rough draft at a reasonable rate of speed. Ability to understand and follow simple oral and/or written instructions. Ability to communicate in an appropriate manner and get along well with others. Ability to make minor decisions using good judgment and acting in accordance with established policies or regulations. Ability to understand and follow complex oral and/or written instructions. Ability to make major decisions using good judgment and acting in accordance with established policies and procedures. D. Specific Requirements - Able to operate basic office equipment including a personal computer. E.
