Robert Half is looking for an ambitious, detail-oriented Staff Accountant for a thriving, fast-paced company that recognizes talent and effort. This company, based in the Timonium, Maryland area, offers a challenging and multi-faceted opportunity where effort is rewarded. In this role, you will prepare journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation and be responsible for many aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close. The ideal candidate for this role will be comfortable participating in compliance, interacting with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and reviewing schedules reporting processes.

What you get to do every single day

  • Arrange schedules for capital lease and monthly payments

  • Assemble journal entries and thorough account reconciliations that include, but are not limited to, cash, prepaid expenses, and payroll

  • Take part in various department-wide initiatives

  • Periodically maintain and reconcile journal entries

  • Manage reconciliation, depreciation, and fixed asset ledgers

  • Contribute to the implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP

  • Maintain intercompany transactions, billings, and reconciliation

  • Support the month end, quarter end and year end closing process by preparing monthly financial close workbooks

  • Assemble analyses for monthly balance sheets and income statements for management reporting

  • Impromptu reporting and special projects, when requested

  • In-depth knowledge of reconciling month end balance sheet accounts

  • Coordinate and analyze a variety of financial data, then report it in a way that is useful and understandable

  • Compose journal entries and conduct the month end close with minimal supervision

    Requirements - Demonstrated analytical abilities, tendency to quickly connect dots and surmise logical outcomes

  • Spreadsheet and database capabilities

  • Attention to detail and ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement

  • Skilled with ERP systems

  • BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics

  • Ability to complete multiple tasks and projects within deadlines

  • Deep understanding of journal entries

  • Solid understanding of Monthly Bank Reconciliation

  • Account reconciliation experience

  • Bank reconciliations experience preferred

  • MRI experience preferred

  • Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus

  • 3+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience

  • Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases

  • Mature organizational, written and verbal communication skills

  • Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills
