MOTOR EQUIPMENT OPERATOR IDISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: The work involves the responsibility for performing limited types of recurring manual duties in connection with the operation of various types of motor equipment. General instructions are received from a superior, however, the safe and economical operation and care of the equipment is the responsibility of this employee. Periodic inspections are made of the work in progress. Does related work as required.TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:(ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY) -Operates a truck in connection with the removal of snow, and in the transportation of passengers, equipment, sand, gravel and supplies; -Operates a tractor or truck with power mower, trailer, snow loader, bulldozer, concrete mixer, stone crusher or other equipment; -Operates a power grader, steam roller or snow plow; -Performs manual labor such as loading trucks, erecting snow fences, cleaning culverts and shoveling snow.FULL PERFORMANCE, KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Good knowledge of the operation of tractors, trucks and other automotive equipment; ability to operate automotive equipment; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; mechanical aptitude; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Completion of a grade school education and one year of experience in the operation of some type of automotive equipment.SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Columbia County positions: Possession of a CDL (Chauffeurs Driver’s License) class A or B permit at the time of appointment.
