POSITION OVERVIEW

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

Position will support the Executive Management Section to strategically align current with proposed organizational structure and processes to assist in meeting regulated public health governed by federal and state laws on a day-to-day operational goals. Performs and manages multiple special project duties simultaneously as requested by the division and department management. Provides guidance and training to department staff in various activities necessary to attain operational goals to include coordinating logistics for a high volume of travel. Assist Wastewater Branch managers and staff in coordinating Requests for Council Actions (RCAs). Composes correspondence, directives, prepares drafts on various departmental matters and edits materials as required. Research, development, interpretation, and review of branch submissions. Conducts studies of departmental organization and operation, and coordinates preparation of report on findings and offers recommendations concerning various problems. Interprets and disseminates administrative policies and procedural revisions for staff implementation. Supervise, train and mentor administrative staff direct reports. Additional job functions include records retentions initiatives including maintaining files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with city, state and departmental policies

WORKING CONDITIONS

The position is physically comfortable; the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc.

This is a Department of Public Works Emergency Management position at the Tier 3 Level

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration or a field directly related to the type of work being performed.

Graduate degrees related to the type of work to be performed my substitute for the experience requirement on a year for year basis.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Three (3) years of professional administrative, financial or analytical experience related to the type of work being performed are required.

PREFERENCES

Preference shall be given to applicants with an understanding of construction and design contracts, e xperience in Contracts RCA, Administrative tasks, and Customer service.

Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.
