Job Summary:

The Staff Accountant will complete daily, operational financial tasks and assist in the preparation and maintenance of financial records to track the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities. 

Duties/Responsibilities:

•    Performs general cost accounting and other related duties for the organization.

•    Assist with the preparation of monthly balance sheets, income statements, and contribution margin analysis.

•    Assists with maintenance of the general ledger.

•    Participates in full-cycle AR processing – PO requests, billing preparation, corrections, reporting, collections, and payment postings.

•    Prepares banking journals, and bank deposits, and performs banking reconciliations.

•    Participates in full-cycle AP processing – vendor account reconciliations, invoice processing, vendor payment and remittance preparations, and communications with vendors.

•    Manage expense accounts.

•    Assist with cash flow report preparation and analysis.

•    Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, customer accounts, and other financial accounts.

•    Assist with third-party audit; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform an annual audit.

•    Files tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies.

•    Coordinates with software vendors to maintain accounting software systems.

•    Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.

•    Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities: 

•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 

•    Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

•    Knowledge of general financial accounting.

•    Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.

•    Ability to assist with the correct preparation of tax reports.

•    Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, and accounting software.

Education and Experience:

•    Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or related field, required.

•    At least five years of related experience is required.
