Job Title: Staff Accountant

Job Description:

Our client, a well-established company, is looking for a skilled, detail-oriented Staff Accountant. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge and use of Excel, a passion for numbers, and a solid understanding of financial and accounting principles. This role is 100% onsite in downtown Houston.

Job Duties:

  1. Maintain thorough financial records and reports.

  2. Ensure business transactions are reported in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.

  3. Work with various financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, and recording.

  4. Conduct month-end and year-end account closings.

  5. Assess internal controls, including risk assessments and reviews of risk areas.

  6. Perform complex financial analysis to produce financial reports and spreadsheets.

  7. Use advanced Excel skills for data manipulation, financial modelling and statistical analysis.

  8. Responsible for financial reconciliation, preparing payroll, and setting up fixed asset depreciation and accruals.

    Requirements

Job Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance is required.

  2. A minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in accounting or a related field is required.

  3. Competency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced skills in Excel such as pivot tables, vlookups, and macro functions.

  4. Certifications such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA), will be given preference.

  5. Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

  6. Experience with accounting software and databases.

  7. Practical experience with financial statements and reporting.

  8. Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and the ability to meet strict deadlines are required.

  9. Previous experience with computer applications, accounting software, and spreadsheets.

  10. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
