MD Anderson Cancer Center Sr EHR Systems Analyst - Epic Grand Central in Houston, Texas
he Senior EHR Application Analyst is a primary support contact for the assigned application and may communicate directly with the Manager to discuss design decisions. He/she communicates directly with the IT analysts and ensures that all key decisions are implemented across the application. The Senior EHR Application Analyst will be responsible for coordinating and communicating with the end users and representatives from all areas of the hospital related to their specific application.
The Senior EHR Application Analyst should have an understanding of MD Anderson's objectives for implementing an EMR and the ability to recognize opportunities for process redesign that will help the organization maximize the benefits of the implementation.
Implementation/ Optimization In order to be adequately prepared and trained to build, test and optimize the Epic system, MDA requires that Epic certification be obtained within 120 days of completion of the assigned, required training classes. Required certifications must be maintained as assigned.
1.Accountable for install decisions related to assigned application
2.Accountable for pre-live risk mitigation planning
3.Analysis of EPIC model content and negotiation of any user requested modifications
4.Populating databases for which they are the owner during the initial system build, with assistance from Epic staff
5.Understanding choices in application specifications
6.Investigating the preferred choices of the users
7.Analyzing data conversion needs
8.Preparing details of specifications as needed
9.Aiding trainers during user training
10.Input to project plan throughout the course of the implementation to insure major milestones are met and appropriate project tracking is accurate
11.Timely input of weekly time tracking and project tracking data
12.Responding to Epic's technical questions
13.Understanding both the clinical and business workflows to achieve strategic outcomes for the implementation
Support/ Content Management
1.Modification of EPIC content as prescribed by project team
2.Working with users on the sharing of data, category lists, etc
3.Create and document policies and procedures
4.Troubleshooting problems or questions from users
5.Prioritizing and implementing changes requested for the system
6.Coordinating software updates and changes with users
7.Thoroughly reviewing and testing each new release and communicating needed changes to Epic before users are permitted to access the new release
8.Collecting information regarding potential system enhancement needs
9.Maintaining rules for how each new version is released
10.Analyzing new functionality in new releases to determine whether or how it should be used
Standards
1.Setting standards for naming and numbering conventions and security classifications

Education Required: Bachelor's degree.
Experience Required: Five years of relevant healthcare information technology experience. May substitute required education with years of related experience on a one to one basis. May substitute up to two years of clinical experience or relevant business experience for relevant healthcare information technology experience. Must obtain Epic certification issued by Epic within 180 days of date of entry into job. Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.

Preferred Certification: Epic Grand Central
Preferred Experience:
• Experience in an academic healthcare setting.
• Experience at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.
• Experience with advanced productivity software (i.e. Access, Visual Basic).
