WM Renewable Energy Power Operations Analyst in Houston, Texas

I. Job Summary

Responsible for support of all power marketing and development functions.

II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.

  • Connects area stakeholders and WMRE in discussions around ongoing operations of existing power projects.

  • Become certified as a PJM Small Gen Operator in order to support and perform Day Ahead/Real Time operations in regard to scheduling, dispatch, outage coordination, capacity transactions, and GADS reporting.

  • Support field operations in regard to metering, telemetry, and communication projects.

  • Provide billing support services to WMRE Accounting by extracting, allocating, analyzing, and compiling billing and metering statements for various plants in various ISO’s.

  • Support/perform emissions calculations for various plants in the fleet to be reported to the ISO’s platforms.

  • Perform mid-office functions for the Renewable Energy Credit sales program.

  • Track US Power markets, pricing trends, fuel trends, Market Rule changes.

  • Assists Director of Power Marketing with ad hoc requests to support field operations, business development, etc.

III. Supervisory Responsibilities

This job has no direct reports, but may occasionally be responsible for delegating assignments and tasks on a project basis. Also, may be assigned coaching/mentoring tasks to help develop less experienced team members.

IV. Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.

A. Education and Experience

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree (accredited), or in lieu of degree, High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and four (4) years of relevant work experience

  • Preferred Education: STEM Degree

  • Experience: Five (5) years of relevant experience (in addition to education requirement)

B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements

C. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities That Contribute to Success

  • None

D. Key Competencies

  • Must have excellent organizational and communication skills.

  • Must have advanced capabilities in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).

  • Basic understanding of power generation & distribution.

  • Must be able to communicate at a leadership level.

  • Some travel may be required. Must be able to travel overnight if needed
