Our greatest asset has been, and will continue to be, our people.  We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position Production Engineer within our US Onshore Resources & Carbon Management, Delaware Basin business unit based in Houston, Texas.

Candidate will be part of Well Analysis and Desing team which is the core team of development. The technical analysis and recommendations are critical inputs for many teams in the business unit development team (Field Development Plan, Reserve, Characterization, and inventory growth teams) and other Oxy organizations (Asset, Planning, and Operation teams). WAD team consists of qualified reservoir engineers, production engineers, and completion engineers striving to put in place all the necessary datasets, tools, multidiscipline workflows, and key performance indicators necessary to monitor and optimize Oxy’s development strategy and production performance. The candidate should have a keen desire to creatively apply new technologies and workflows to base surveillance production and optimization as well as supporting reservoir and completion engineer’s optimization workflows.

The position’s primary responsibilities include:

·        Provide production engineering support for new well design and operation including but not limited to early time forecasting of wedge wells for monthly outlooks, design and optimize artificial lift systems, monitoring the wedge wells during flowback and etc.

·        Strong capability to work with large datasets and ability to manage data quickly from multiple data sources with a variety of tools 

·        Lead the well surveillance process to identify and carry out production improvement opportunities on wells, facilities, and operations.

·        Strong analytical and problem solving capabilities with the ability to make technically and economically sound recommendations with incomplete information

·        Strong knowledge of reservoir and production engineering concepts and applications

·        Knowledge of economic evaluation and business financial metrics

·        Recommend modifications and/or investments to upgrade systems to reduce operating costs.

·        Creative thinker with a desire to challenge the status quo and conventional thinking with the ability to influence new ideas, processes and technologies.

·        Work with a multi-discipline team to optimize well completions, flowback strategies, artificial lift methods, facilities for processing and sale of oil and gas.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

·        Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum, Mechanical or Chemical engineering – Master and PhD preferred

·        Minimum 3 years upstream oil and gas engineering experience

·        Provide production engineering support for new well design and operation including but not limited to early time forecasting of wedge wells for monthly outlooks, design and optimize artificial lift systems, monitoring the wedge wells during flowback and etc.

·        Strong capability to work with large datasets and ability to manage data quickly from multiple data sources with a variety of tools 

·        Lead the well surveillance process to identify and carry out production improvement opportunities on wells, facilities, and operations.

·        Strong analytical and problem solving capabilities with the ability to make technically and economically sound recommendations with incomplete information

·        Strong knowledge of reservoir and production engineering concepts and applications

·        Expertise in AI-based optimization algorithms and automations to streamline some day-to-day processes and workflows.

·        Experience in developing and utilizing software tools to screen and analyze data, build dashboards and scorecards and support engineering project development.

·        Experience with databases and SQL Syntax 

·        Experience with Merak/PEEP, OFM, LOWIS, ArcMap, and OSI PI
