We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Process Engineer in our US Onshore Resources & Carbon Management (ORCM), EOR Plants Business Unit based in Houston, Texas.

 

This position requires the performance of the following job functions which support the operations of our CO2 gas processing plants, to improved plant value through best-in-class efficiency, uptime, and optimization:

 

  • Protect the environment, and the health and safety of our employees, customers, and the communities in which we operate.
  • Provide engineering support to gas plant operations to optimize such operations using real-time process data, and gas plant process simulation information, while maintaining operating cost focus.
  • Provide daily engineering support to gas plant operations and maintenance teams to evaluate issues affecting daily plant performance.
  • Use acquired knowledge of the various gas processing plant control systems and the integration between these systems to maintain optimal operations.
  • Provide engineering support and gas processing expertise in the development of required studies and projects.
  • Provide engineering support and gas processing expertise in the development of large capital or expense projects needed to address gas plant performance issues.
  • Assist in developing scope documents, P&ID’s and PFD’s, and process control narratives.
  • Incorporate Process Safety and Risk Management principles into all work performed.
  • Participate in PHA's, and the MOC (Management of Change) program.
  • Develop operating procedures and provide engineering support for gas plant processing and gas plant operations training.
  • Provide construction support, participate in PSSR’s, and assist with project commissioning and start-up.
  • Maintain technical expertise in codes, procedures and selection and technology through individual effort and ongoing training.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
  • A minimum of five years functional experience in gas plant processing and operations, gas plant process control technologies, gas plant processing systems and gas plant maintenance functions.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, including safety considerations in gas plant operations, and operability, engineering design, and recommendations.
  • Ability to communicate with a broad spectrum of gas plant and corporate personnel in a multi-disciplined team environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to make technically and economically sound recommendations with incomplete information and in the time required.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Initiative-taker, able to work with minimal supervision but deliver superior results.
  • Working knowledge of typical rotating and stationary equipment, equipment sizing/design, and system design.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office Suite software.
  • Proficiency in gas plant simulation software such as ProMax and HYSYS
  • Proficiency in or ability to learn applicable technical and economic analysis software.
  • Working knowledge of the following in context of midstream gas plant processing functions:
    • OSHA Process Safety Management elements and typical safety program requirements.
    • Industry codes and standards (ASME B31.3, B31.4, B31.8, ASME Section 8, Div. 1 Pressure Vessel Code, etc.).
  • Ability to reside in the Houston, TX geographic area, and a minimum of 50 percent travel in support of our West Texas plant operations.

Additional Desired Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of reliability engineering principles and life cycle cost analysis.
  • Working knowledge of corrosion engineering principles.
  • Formal training and work experience in project management.
  • Working knowledge of procurement systems and contracting.
  • Ability to represent the company’s interests with vendors and contract technical staff.
