Phillips 66 ML Engineer in Houston, Texas

The Machine Learning Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying artificial intelligence and machine learning models and digital products. The role will be responsible for solving complex business problems and improve the efficiency, reliability, and innovation across Business Units. This includes refining, transportation, commercial, and marketing sectors. The role requires a strong technical background in computer science or a related field. Proficiency in programming and ML libraries, and a passion for innovation.

Responsibilities May Include:

  • Creating systems for storing, extracting, transferring, loading, and modeling data to be used for both production systems and machine learning projects.

  • Design and develop AI/ML products that involve large-scale data processing and modeling.

  • Implementing AI/ML solutions in Microsoft Azure, AWS, Hana, and other systems, including open-source data science tools to meet the needs of our internal customers.

  • Building end-to-end solutions to solve high value business needs in a sustainable, innovative manner.

  • Engaging in constant process improvement, always looking for opportunities to increase efficiency and reduce failures.

Required Qualifications:

  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a computer related field (Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Statistics, or the Physical Sciences)

  • Experience with ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) and libraries

  • 3 or more years of experience in developing AI/ML models and algorithms

  • Able to understand the diverse business requirements and be able to translate those requirements into applicable solutions

  • Knowledge of Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, problem solving, etc.

  • Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as C#, Java Scala, or Python and technologies like SQL, NoSQL, Spark, etc.

  • Knowledge of data management fundamentals and data storage principles

  • Knowledge of distributed systems as it pertains to data storage and computing

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of various LLM models, packages like Langchain, LlamaIndex, Semantic Kernel, vector databases and knowledge graphs
