We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of IT Business Relationship Manager within our IT Business Engagement Department group based in Houston, TX.

  • Identifying, developing, and fostering strategic partnerships with Oxy business leadership to increase the trust in our IT Services and ensure that IT is working on what matters most to the business and adds the most value
  • Facilitate the proper alignment of IT strategies with business strategies
  • Connect the appropriate personnel to properly assess the value of incoming business requests or initiatives, creating business cases with value assessment where necessary
  • Continue to improve the BRM practice through improvements in process, procedures, measures, technology, and information

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Four-year bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a technology, business administration, or related field
  • 10 years’ experience working with or leading end user IT support teams
  • Broad understanding of the various components of information technology - concepts, technologies, architectures and strategies
  • Solid understanding of the IT organization, IT tools and processes 
  • Good negotiation and influencing skills 
  • Good understanding of Oxy’s various lines of business – Oil & Gas, Chemicals, Midstream, Marketing, Low Carbon Ventures, etc. 
  • Ability to identify and connect the right individuals within Oxy in order to drive results 
  • Ability to transition concepts and ideas into business requirement document and business cases 
  • Has a passion for technology and innovation   
  • Ability to effectively communicate both up and down the organization, both IT and our Oxy lines of business in order to drive business value and achieve business results 
  • Ability to think strategically and can see the bigger picture  
  • Ability to effectively deal with difficult situations and defuse conflict 
  • Self-motivated and results-oriented  
  • Able to organize and prioritize multiple tasks, demands and issues across multiple teams and multiple lines of business 

Desired Qualification:

  • Project Management certifications such as PMP, CSM
  • Working knowledge of common risk management processes/frameworks
  • Excellent organizational, time management and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work with sensitive and confidential information while maintaining the highest level of confidentiality, professionalism, and ethics.
