OVERVIEW:

Provides staff assistance to a Department Manager, Division Head or Planning & Programs Analysts I and II for departmental/division program activities.

SCOPE:

  • Responsible under the direction of the head of a department, division or as part of a planning & programs analysis group, for developing data, preparing planning documents, Preparing Presentations, researching and producing competent reports on the results of studies, and producing solutions to assigned problems that are routine in nature. 

  • Work is performed with some supervision and guidance, but incumbent is expected to perform independently, receiving work direction for Department/Division Head, or Planning & Program Analysts I & II, and assuring that action happens without referral to the immediate supervisor.

  • The job requires the typical physical demands of an office environment and is normally performed at 16300 Park Row, Houston, Texas that is an air-conditioned, well-lighted R&D building that meets building, safety occupant health, and facility access codes.  

PRINCIPAL CONTACTS:

External:

Contacts with organizations such as EDP, Contracting, Accounting, Employee Relations, Office Services, and those organizations relevant to the Department business activity for reporting requirements, exchange of information or to resolve problems.  

Internal:

Frequent with Division Heads, other supervisory personnel, and departmental staff to develop information, review plans, and coordinate ongoing staff efforts.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:    

  • Prepares presentations including Graphic Designs and assist scientists, engineers in preparing the required presentations for review and approval.

  • Conducts studies relating to organization business activity/productivity and prepare reports and Presentations.

  • Create and design various materials for digital and print for various reports.

  • Assists the Department Manager or Division Head in conducting detailed analytical work, producing charts and graphs, and organizing relevant data in preparation of management requested reports.

  • Support in writing and assembling technical, department reports in Adobe InDesign/Illustrator, MS PowerPoint or equivalent software.

  • Ensure projects are completed in a timely manner with a quality product.

  • Advise best practices and optimizations throughout design projects.

  • Maintains records, initiates or processes necessary forms and reports as necessary.

ACTIVITIES AND EQUIPMENT

  • Reads and comprehends published, handwritten, and typewritten materials, company forms, and computer printouts.

  • Proficient with word processing, spreadsheet, and database functions in the Windows environment. 

  • Travels to meetings, seminars, and to vendor offices in Houston and throughout North America.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or other related field. 

  • Four (4) years accounting, budget preparation, cost control and project technical analysis or other closely related activities. 

  • Must be able to communicate and comprehend accurately, clearly and concisely in English at a level required to perform the job as outlined.  Must possess a strong work ethic, and be able to adhere to company work hours, policies, and standard business etiquette. 

  • Should have the ability to perform a wide variety of statistical, financial, technical, problem analysis and have a working knowledge of economics, accounting, engineering and technology while working under time constraints.  Must possess good work habits, a strong work ethic, and be able to adhere to company work hours, policies, and standard business etiquette.
