We have an exciting opportunity for a Gateway EPS System Management Support Senior Engineer to join the team!

The Gateway EPS System Management Support Senior Engineer will:

  • Seeking full time (100%)- On-site contractor in support of the Gateway EPS System Manager roles and responsibilities to provide technical insight and oversight Systems Engineering and Integration to provide design review and risk mitigation products.

  • The job candidate will be responsible to perform Design Data Capture including Integrated Power Architecture Schematics and Detail Diagrams and document EPS component functionality including the hardware/firmware and software interactions and document the operational procedure development.

  • Focus of the job duties will include responsibilities to mature the Level 2 EPS products for achieving Gateway Program Critical Design Review milestones.

  • Assist in the development of capabilities and execution of NASA Gateway Level 2 EPS analysis support functions to include data gathering and synthesis and perform integrated analysis cycle systems engineering and integration trade studies, prepare and present results, findings, and recommendations to program integration forums related to Gateway power generation, energy management, power distribution and power resource consumption.

  • The candidate will perform Systems Integration and data synthesis products to mature Gateway element power equipment lists (PELs) and documenting channelized connection of the end items to the power system switching devices for tracking electrical load configurations and resource analysis. Candidate shall provide products to integrate and mature the Gateway power resource management and support definition of EPS interfaces for the delivery of power including hardware/software integration requirements for a variety of GW elements and visiting vehicles.

  • Candidate shall coordinate and communicate with the System Management team to provide products to integrate and mature the Gateway power resource management and support definition of EPS interfaces for the delivery of power including hardware/software integration requirements for a variety of GW elements and visiting vehicles. The candidate will also provide the subject matter expertise to support documentation of the GW EPS Architecture Design documenting description of Power Management and Distribution (PMAD) hardware functionality, constraints, and performance to include harness and connector design, command and telemetry interfaces, voltage and current output, and circuit protection features.

  • Candidate shall be expected to be provide direct support for face-to-face meetings onsite at NASA JSC or attending remote NASA, ESA or contractor site facilities for design integration meetings and working groups. Education BSEE, with work experience and skill concentration in Aerospace Electrical Power Systems and power circuit board electronics.

  • The candidate will also provide subject matter experience and responsibility to document the GW EPS Architecture Design documenting description of Power Management and Distribution (PMAD) hardware functionality and performance to include harness and connector design, command and telemetry interfaces, voltage and current output, and circuit protection features.

  • Candidate will be expected to support documentation activities to provide EPS Test and Verification (T&V) Detailed Verification Objectives (DVOs), Test Plans and Procedure development and schedules including Bi-lateral Integrated Verification Plans (BIVP) with cross program partners. Skills and prior experience are required to perform Level 2 EPS analysis support functions including data gathering and synthesis to produce integrated analysis cycle and verification analysis systems engineering and integration trade studies, prepare and present results, findings, and recommendations to program integration forums related to Gateway power generation, energy management, power distribution and power resource consumption.

Requisition Qualifications:

This position has been posted at multiple levels. Depending on the candidate's experience, requirements, and business needs, we reserve the right to consider candidates at any level for which this position has been advertised.

  • Typically requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in Engineering and may be expected to have a related master's degree and normally possess 10-15 years of related experience.

  • Minimum Education BSEE, with at least 14 years work experience in Aerospace or Defense Industry including 4 years in Manned Space with a skill concentration in Electrical Power Systems and component hardware design development test and engineering.

  • Experience in Test and Verification activities, and the job duties will require demonstrating support of Gateway Power System Test and Verification planning, including detailed verification objectives and coordination of verification events to document the hardware flight like emulator configurations, test instrumentation, test setup and establish post-test analysis methods required for verification closure of EPS requirements within schedule resources.

  • A working background in development and communicating EPS Test and Verification (T&V) Detailed Verification Objectives (DVOs), Test Plans and Procedure development and schedules including Bi-lateral Integrated Verification Plans (BIVP) with cross program partners.

  • Perform Design Data Capture including Integrated Power Architecture Schematics and Detail Diagrams and Interface Requirements Documents (IRDs) and Interface Control Documents (ICDs). EPS component functionality including the hardware/firmware and software interactions and document the operational procedure development

  • Knowledgeable in the applicable Power Quality and Power System Specifications and well versed in key guiding safety requirements. The job candidate is expected to have applicable experience and will be responsible to support Design Data Capture to provide Integrated Power Architecture Schematics and Detail Diagrams and support Interface Requirements Documents (IRDs) and Interface Control Documents (ICDs) development.

  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a dynamic team environment to support the System Manager with excellent oral and written communication skills. Candidate shall have a positive and goal-oriented work ethic and willingness to provide creative solutions for the Gateway EPS team. The candidate shall be capable of organizing and managing individual workload and interfacing with colleagues to meet team milestones and task delivery schedules.

  • Experience with Electrical Design and Requirement for Electrical Power Systems (EPS) systems with experience in development of NASA Manned Space Program EPS design, development, analysis, integration and testing and verification. Candidate experience shall include providing design and verification requirements and a working knowledge of procurement specification development focused on EPS hardware technical performance to communicate appropriately with Prime and Sub-contract suppliers.

  • Candidate shall have worked on one or more NASA Artemis Mission Programs (MPCV-Orion, HLS, or Gateway) Power System architecture development through DDT&E lifecycle and experience working from early development through mature EPS concepts of operation.

  • The candidate shall have performed Power System Simulation model development, system assessments, and performance analysis as part of previous job experience. Candidate shall have knowledge and working experience in one or more simulation and model design capture tools from the following applications: Visual Basic, Python , OrCAD, PSpice, Matlab - Simulink , C language, Excel spreadsheet. EPS knowledge data information capture working with MS Office products (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Word) is required. Working knowledge of MagicDraw, MS Visio, MS Project and requirements development working with DOORS is a plus.
