individual to fill the position of Production Engineer for our Onshore Resources & Carbon Management, EOR asset.

This position will be located in our Houston, Texas office. The Production Engineer position is responsible for managing operations in our leases and units through the optimization of our artificial lift, injection and surface facilities. The Production Engineer will coordinate execution of new capital or well enhancement projects involving drilling, completions and downhole workovers, including cost evaluations and economic justification. The job requires supervising service company representatives involved with various acid treatments and fracture stimulations.  The Production Engineer also manages contractors and helps direct field operations staff in the execution of artificial lift projects as well as making technical and financial decisions. 

 

Responsibilities & Expectations

 

·        Manage capital programs including tracking of drilling, completions and new technologies on existing wells from planning to execution and post-audit of performance.

·        Evaluate and making decisions on optimization of artificial lift and change out of equipment.

·        Accountable for knowledge and compliance with all applicable regulations and company HES training requirements and policies.

·        Design, preparation and implementation of new well completions and stimulations, including both acid and hydraulic fracture treatments.

·        Identifying incremental capital/expense workover opportunities, preparing AFE’s, and providing economic analysis and justification for proposed projects.

·        Display an understanding of formation damage, identification and remediation.

·        History of performing job post audits to monitor capital spending efficiency.

 

Qualifications

 

·        Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering or related field required.

·        Minimum of 5 years of oil and gas industry experience including waterflooding and/or CO2 flooding.

·        Proficiency in production engineering best practices, including artificial lift, well interventions, workovers/recompletions, well surveillance, and field operations.

·        Experience leading successful teams and ability to interact and work effectively with cross-functional teams and working interest partners.

·        Strong written and oral communication skills, including presentations.

·        Knowledge of OFM or DSS to perform base reservoir surveillance and estimate well performance potential.

·        Experience in performing rig site supervision is a plus.

·        Knows how to use PEEP to calculate reserves and economics.

·        Knowledge of oilfield chemistry as it relates to corrosion scale and paraffin deposition.

·        Understands how to use enhanced oil recovery as a % of original oil in place versus CO2 injected as a % of hydrocarbon pore volume plots to optimize water and gas (WAG) injection schemes for individual WAG injectors.
