EMU Program Chief Engineer - Space Systems (Onsite)
The COLLINS EMU Chief Engineer will provide technical and managerial capabilities necessary to plan, administrate, and execute substantial engineering activities, projects, and programs within a functional discipline. Acts as the Technical Supervision to Engineers and Designers. Ensures technical design is carried out consistently across sub-teams. The ideal candidate should have a passion for space suits and EVA in general, accompanied with exceptional communication skills, great attitude, be a results-oriented team player, and a great problem-solver. The ideal candidate will also have a good balance of EVA operations experience and suit development and test experience.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsible for managing system level trades and analyses.
Work with SE&I and Design teams to ensure consistent application and interpretation of requirements.
Lead technical compliance for the EMU Design, Mission Support, and sustaining activities for the program.
Aid in cost estimation of new projects or scopes of work
Oversight and development of complex systems with interaction across multiple engineering disciplines
Support functional groups within Engineering and other departments with the technical assistance necessary to satisfy program goals and objectives.
Presentation of results and recommendations to internal team and external customers
Organize and coordinate pricing and proposal input data for additional proposals and current projects.
Leads technical reviews - has direct interaction with customers, proposal writing, and project leadership.
Experience in performing integrated system level analyses preferred.
Experience with space suit or complex space systems operations
Experience in CAD modeling using a major software package (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA V5, etc.)
Experience leading teams of 10+ engineers
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations OR Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years experience OR In absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience is required
Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder
This position is considered safety sensitive in accordance with NASA Guidelines. Candidate will be subject to drug and alcohol testing per NASA’s regulation SUBPART 1835.5 Drug- Free Workforce
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline required.
Master of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline preferred.
20+ years of engineering experience with 10+ years of space related experience

The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
