Phillips 66 Director, Trade Finance in Houston, Texas

The Director, Trade Finance is responsible for leading the development of a panel of credit risk transfer and trade working capital providers, maintain counterparty level availability and pricing of current risk transfer on targeted portfolio. This role will participate in the development of portfolio level governance of credit risk, provide economic analysis and modelling to support risk transfer decision making and execute risk mitigation as required to maintain compliance with management risk appetite.

Responsibilities May Include:

  • Identify banks and credit risk insurance underwritiers to provide credit risk transfer and working capital on trade accounts receivable.

  • Negotiate committed and uncommitted facilities with risk transfer providers.

  • Maintain panel of risk transfer providers and current availability and pricing of risk by counterparty name.

  • Collaborate with business units to understand business needs and identify specific use cases.

  • Provide analysis of working capital usage at the BU level.

  • Run economic analysis of trade A/R inclusive of working capital and risk mitigation.

  • Assist in monitoring credit portfolio thresholds.

  • Execute risk mitigation transactions as required to maintain management risk appetite.

Required Qualifications:

  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country

  • Bachelors degree

  • Minimum of 10 years experience in commodity trade finance

  • Experience negotiating with financial institutions, placing credit risk insurance policies and/or trade finance facilities

  • Experience in corporate finance, credit and contract negotiation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or Masters in Accounting

  • Strong economic modelling skills

  • Team player but also able to manage own workload with focus on key daily tasks

  • Flexible attitude

  • Commitment to accuracy

  • Able to encourage continuous improvement

  • Able to excel in an environment of constantly changing priorities

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
