Thompson Engineering Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Field Technician in Houston, Texas

Thompson Engineering is looking for a qualified Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Technician in Houston, TX. This position is responsible for the processing and testing of soil, asphalt and concrete materials using company and client specific guidelines. The ideal person should have ACI Level I and strength testing certifications and have completed nuclear gauge safety training. DUTIES1. Log in material samples2. Prepare samples for processing which includes weighing and drying each one3. Perform tests using appropriate ASTM methods4. Enter test data manually onto the proper forms5. Maintain a clean working environment 6. Perform general maintenance on lab equipment7. Assist Drilling and Construction Material Testing Departments as required by Org Supervisor8. Ensure quality in every step of the testing process 9. Maintain a safe working environment10. Ensures on time and regular attendanceOther Responsibilities1. Other duties as requiredQUALIFICATIONSMinimum Requirements1. High school degree or equivalent2. General maintenance skills 3. Basic math skills4. Ability to learn and follow instructions5. ACI Level I or II certification required

Physical Requirements1. Ability to lift 50 lbs3. Stand in one place for 1 to 2 hours at a time4. Stoop and bend to perform equipment maintenance5. Ability to wear appropriate PPE for hazardous materials 6. Wear steel toe shoes as needed7. Ability to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
