Chief Technical Advisor - Systems

KBR Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) provides holistic and value-added solutions across the entire asset life cycle. These include world-class licensed process technologies, differentiated advisory services, deep technical domain expertise, energy transition solutions, high-end design capabilities, and smart solutions to optimize planned and operating assets.

KBR is looking for a Chief Technical Advisor, Systems to help lead our Olefins group of the Technology Business Unit. As a Technical Advisor, you will be part of a process engineering team to provide plant technical lifecycle support from Basic engineering to plant operation.

Functional job responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Provide site services and technical solutions.

  • Meet directly with the client.

  • Handle interdisciplinary meetings and information transfer and provide licensee feedback to improve KBR Olefins technology.

  • Conventional engineering and operation practice which may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design and operation requirements, and difficult coordination requirements.

  • Support proposal development.

  • Provide supervision to less experienced engineers.

  • Lead process engineering team on basic engineering technology projects.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Chemical Engineering.

  • 15+ years of CURRENT experience in Petrochemical Process systems design, optimization and/or operation.

  • High level of proficiency in P&ID development, Hydraulic calculations, and line sizing.

  • High level of proficiency in using process design simulation software (i.e. Aspen, PROII, etc.) to develop new or revamp designs.

  • Proficiency in conceptual development of process designs, basic economic evaluations, Process Flow Diagrams, P&IDs, equipment capacity evaluation and specification.

  • Ability to lead process engineering team on a basic engineering technology project.

  • Ability to develop new engineering ideas and concepts.

  • Strong English verbal, writing and reading communication skills.

  • Ability to clearly convey technical concepts and principles in both verbal and written communications to clients, peers, and KBR management.

  • Must be willing and available to travel domestic and international including site base assignment, as needed.

Preferred Education & Skills:

  • Design or operations background in Ethylene; experience in other Petrochemical processes.

  • Experience in application of advanced process design techniques to develop and optimize process designs.
