Robert Half Accounting Manager in Houston, Texas

Description We are seeking a skilled and experienced Accounting Manager for an oil fields services company based in Northwest Houston. The ideal candidate will oversee our accounting department operations, verifying our financial transactions are accurate and legal, and ensure our operations remain efficient and effective.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Overseeing and directing all accounting operations including invoicing, payroll, bank reconciliations, and financial reporting.

  2. Preparing and completing timely month-end closings and financial statements.

  3. Supervising, tracking and evaluating the performance of accounting staff to ensure efficiency.

  4. Assisting in budget preparation and management.

  5. Complying with the law and company’s policies.

  6. Collaborating with auditing services to ensure the correct and timely closing of all audits.

Required Skills:

The successful candidate must have an in-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), possess strong numerical and analytical skills in oil field services accounting. Proficiency in accounting software, excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, and the capacity to meet tight deadlines are necessary.

Qualifications: We are looking for a candidate with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance and a minimum of 5-7 years experience in a senior accounting role, preferably in the oil field services industry. Professional certification such as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), is strongly preferred.

This position requires a committed professional with a proven track record in managing and improving an accounting department's performance at the month-end reporting. The ideal person for the job should have strong leadership skills, ethical standards, strategic thinking abilities, and excellent interpersonal communication skills. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or equivalent degree and/or experience

  • Proven technical skills

  • Comprehensive knowledge of month end closings

  • Sage MAS 201 experience preferred

  • Strong familiarity with account reconciliation

  • Journal entries experience

  • Ability to recognize, evaluate, and resolve problems effectively

  • Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant / CPA are preferred

  • Customer service oriented communication skills

  • Working knowledge of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems is valuable

  • 7+ years of recent relevant financial experience
