Job Description Summary

This Sourcing role is responsible for driving the Strategic Sourcing Initiatives for Goods or Services sought for Instrument Transformer product line, in this role will be the responsible for AIS / GIS Product commodity in site, the objective is to leverage spend and to develop a best-in-class supply base that meets their strategic (e.g. localization, product development, vendor list) and operational (e.g. quality, lead-time, cost, EHS) needs.

Major Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Lead Sourcing Buyer will be responsible for managing Demand to Execution for competitive, compliant, commercial proposals for Electrical & Mechanical Commodity

  • Define Supplier Strategy Including supplier selection, qualification process and optimization of supplier panel.

  • Drive supplier development & component development and coordinate with Supplier Quality for onboarding process

  • Is responsible for monitoring allocated commodity including supplier negotiations, contracting, and securing best terms and conditions.

  • Will work closely with Global Commodity leader (GCL) to help develop sourcing strategy to achieve cost, improved cash flow, and T&Cs

  • Strategic Sourcing: Define the Commodity Strategy for the site, supplier target panel and action plan,

  • Constantly survey the market for intelligence, benchmark, and development of new or existing suppliers of local or global usage. Distribute the information to the stakeholders

  • Develop strategy with potential suppliers & commodity strategy to execute cost reduction projects and coordinate with R&D, Engineering and Supplier Quality teams to improve Cost

  • Develop technical and market expertise in global commodity area

  • Lead Supplier Relationship management program for target suppliers,

  • Tendering: Define inputs for tendering purposes (e.g. costing and target panel) and ensure compliance of Business Award with validated Supplier Panel and tendering budgets

  • Working with stake holder teams to ensure fulfilment and quality requirements are improved

  • Work with Global Logistics team and Sourcing teams to minimize transportation & packing costs

  • Meeting with Suppliers to discuss performance, provide feedback, discuss opportunities, requirements.

  • Concisely communicate status of critical quotes to management, operations, and internal customers in a timely manner.

  • Good in Analytical and operational problem-solving skills, able to generate & manage commodity data

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering, from an accredited university or college

  • Min of 10 yrs of experience in Sourcing / Commodity management / Negotiation / Purchasing

  • Exposure in Aluminum Die / Sand castings, Machined components, Porcelain and Polymerics Insulators, Insulating paper/press boards, Epoxy components, Gaskets/O-rings, etc.

  • Candidates having experience in CT/CVT product manufacturing industry will be preferred.

Desired:

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Excellent negotiation and execution skills

  • Market (commodity) knowledge and experience in working across various functions (quality, supply chain, logistics) and Ability to work in cross-functional global team environment

  • Experience in LCC sourcing, building, and developing a supply base for assigned commodity,

  • Six Sigma certified (GE Employees Only) and Experience in deploying lean techniques

  • Contract management / legal awareness, Risk management skills

  • Ensures compliance to applicable laws and regulations governing quality, safety, and product performance.

  • Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement both on a personal and organizational level
