GENERAL WORK SCHEDULE :

Full-Time 5 days per week; as needed for special projects.

DEFINITION:

Job Summary Responsibilities include General Ledger Reconciliation, month-end closing, audits, reports, file maintenance, tax filing and assisting other areas of department as needed.

GENERAL DUTIES:

  • Maintain reconciliations of general ledger balance sheet accounts, ensuring accuracy of information residing in such accounts

  • Participate in the preparation of financial and administrative reports; prepare and analyze financial reports and records to determine trends or irregularities.

  • Participate in month-end, quarterly, and year-end close process, including the preparation of or review of journal entries, preparation of monthly, quarterly, and yearly reconciliation, and reporting requirements.

  • Participates in the year-end audit; complies and prepares supporting schedules, work papers, and financial reports as requested.

  • Assist the Controller in establishing, and administering procedures, controls and systems pertaining to financial matters.

  • Process and file company taxes with various federal, state, and local taxing authorities ensuring timeliness and accuracy of information so as to avoid penalty and interest expense to the company

  • Monitor incoming accounting inquiries and respond in a timely manner

  • May serve as back-up in the processing of accounts receivable, accounts payable, and income audit

  • Performs such other duties as may be assigned.

REQUIRED CERFITICATIONS:

  • Minimum age requirement – 18 years of age.

  • High School diploma, GED required.

  • College degree or diploma in accounting, finance, or a related field an asset.

  • Previous experience in a similar role.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:

  • Exhibits strong computer skills and knowledge of relevant technology.

  • Possesses exceptional organizational skills and is an effective time manager and multi-tasker.

  • Has excellent critical thinking as well as analytical skills.

  • Demonstrates good interpersonal skills along with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Has a working knowledge of General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial accounting standards.

  • Ability to maintain confidential information.

  • Presents a professional appearance and positive company image.

  • Proficiency in Excel required

PHYSICAL & MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to reach top drawer of four-drawer cabinet.

  • Moderate lifting and carrying, 15—45 pounds.

  • Must be able to bend, stoop, reach and stretch repetitively.

  • Must be able to operate 10-key calculator by touch.

  • Must have neat and pleasant overall appearance.

  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.

  • Must be able to communicate information.

  • Must be able to speak, read and write English.

  • Must be able to inspect, catalogue and calculate.
