Elmira College Housekeeper in Horseheads, New York
Elmira College is a private liberal arts College located in the Finger Lakes region of New York. Seeking innovative professionals from diverse backgrounds to fill the position of Housekeeper to join the Murray Athletic Center team.The Housekeeper is responsible for attending to our facilities with integrity and attention to detail to create a clean and orderly environment for students, staff, and guests. This position is located at the Murray Athletic Center in Horseheads, NY. This position will require the staff member to work the 2nd shift Monday-Friday from 2-10pm and possibly every other weekend from October-March. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:•Maintain, clean and disinfected locker rooms and bathrooms (showers, toilets, etc.);•Maintain and stock supplies in storage areas or closets;•Vacuuming and carpet cleaning; may use a floor machine and buffer, broom, mop, etc.; •Clean windows, walls, and woodwork;•Remove trash and recyclables;•Dusting and polishing.QUALIFICATIONS:•High school diploma or GED preferred;•6 months related experience preferred;•Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions;•Able to stand for long periods of time; Ability to stoop, bend, twist and reach;•Able to lift and carry 50+ pounds;•Maintain flexible work schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call as needed;•Ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently with minimal supervision.WORK LOCATION: Horseheads, NYSUPERVISES OTHERS?: NoTO APPLY: Interested candidates should submit a letter of interest and resume to personnel@elmira.edu, or by fax to 607-735-1701. Housekeepers work with cleaning chemicals and may be in contact with soiled items, body fluids, airborne particles, fumes and dust.
