SENIOR RESEARCH SCIENTIST, CELL LINE PROCESS DEVELOPMENT in Hopkinton, MA

We are rapidly growing and seeking a talented individual for the role of Senior Research Scientist to join our Process Development team based on Hopkinton, MA. The successful candidate will be able to lead and execute laboratory procedures and perform stable cell line development and expression of recombinant proteins and antibodies to support manufacturing. Strong candidate will have extensive experience in mammalian cell culture engineering to develop highly productive upstream processes.

    Responsibilities

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in cell line development to represent functional area for biologics pipeline programs.

  • Perform processes including transfection, cloning, characterization, and production optimization to RCB using modern Advanced Instruments and Sartorius equipment.

  • Conduct operations of clone screening and identifying of target leaders to develop and optimize stable CHO and HEK293 cell lines suitable for manufacturing.

  • Participate in designing and implementing new methods to expand throughput and capacity for CHO cell line process.

  • Represent cell line development on multiple projects and effectively communicate results, progress and plans to colleagues and clients

  • Interface and collaborate with other functional teams in Discovery, Analytics, QA/QC

  • Responsible for technical reports and study records

    Qualifications

  • Ph.D (2+ years industry experience), MS (5+ years industry experience) or BS. (7+ years industry experience) in Biochemistry, Biophysics, Biology, Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering.

  • Track record of accomplishments in the design, development, and implementation of cell culture processes for protein production.

  • Experience with VIPS® Seeder, Ambr® 15 bioreactor or equivalents a must.

  • Knowledge of bioreactor process and engineering scaling as well as robust understanding of biochemistry and cell metabolic pathways.

  • Must be able to clearly and accurately present written data and be comfortable with oral presentations.

    Knowledge, skills and abilities

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing cell line development to support our proprietary cell line technology.

  • Candidate must have an in-depth understanding of cell biology and strong hands-on experience of molecular techniques and mammalian culture.

  • This role will encompass aspects of upstream process development to support to multiple projects as needed. Candidate will lead upstream process design, optimization, and tech transfer. T

  • The candidate will be responsible for executing projects within the laboratory, writing study/research plans, and summarizing data to clients and colleagues via technical reports.

  • Candidate must be able to work independently, including planning, trouble shooting and execution of cell line development and new technology assessment.

  • Ideal person will initiate implementation of new methods to increase production and capacity for mammalian cell line process development through emerging and novel approaches.
