Job Summary:

To assist licensed personnel in the delivery of quality patient care.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides for patient's personal hygiene as needed. Assist with showers and baths as indicated.

  • Provides for activities of daily living: assists with meals as needed, assist with ambulation as needed. Provide fresh water and scheduled snacks between meal times.

  • Performs I&O, checks vital signs and weight, specimen collection, and post-mortem care.

  • Provides for comfort needs of patients.

  • Works effectively as a team member in the delivery of care and assists in the orientation of new employees.

  • Utilizes resources and materials in an efficient and safe manner.

  • Maintains a safe and clean environment for patients and co-workers; transports patients and equipment as appropriate.

  • Promptly answers patients' call lights and requests.

  • Reports observations of a patient to the nurse caring for the patient to ensure professional assessment.

  • Instills confidence in the patient by maintaining a neat and clean appearance and performing duties in a competent and caring manner.

  • Shows dependability by being punctual; maintains consistent attendance.

  • Maintains good working relations among all nursing unit personnel and other hospital employees through appropriate communication.

  • In special areas, performs duties as defined on specialized-skill list.

  • With specialized training, and written approval, may perform additional and specialized tasks pertinent to assigned area.

  • Accepts reassignment as needed to provide necessary care for all patients.

Required Skills

Minimum Education:

• High School Graduate or GED equivalent.

• Successful completion of Nurse Aide course or the equivalent.

Required License/Certifications:

Kentucky Nurse Aide Registry (CNA).

BLS Certification—American Heart Association (Healthcare Provider) or American Red Cross (Healthcare Provider) Required. Must be current.

Handle with Care experience preferred.

Experience as Mental Health Technician preferred.
