Job Description

Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women & Children is Hawai'i’s only maternity, newborn and pediatric specialty hospital. It is well recognized as Hawai'i’s leader in the care of women, infants and children. With 253 beds, the not-for-profit hospital delivers 6,000 babies a year, and is also a medical teaching and research facility. Specialty services for patients throughout Hawai'i and the Pacific Region include intensive care for infants and children, 24-hour emergency pediatric and adult care, critical care air transport and high-risk perinatal care. Over 1,400 employees and more than 700 physicians provide specialty care at Kapi'olani. The hospital is home to the Kapi'olani Women’s Center and the Women’s Cancer Center, and offers numerous community programs and services, such as specialty pediatric clinics, the Kapi'olani Child Protection Center and the Sex Abuse Treatment Center.

The Respiratory Therapy team partners with health care professionals across the continuum of care to provide quality therapeutic and diagnostic respiratory care for our patients with acute or chronic cardiopulmonary disorders. Our certified respiratory therapists are specialized in both cardiac and pulmonary nursing and medicine, and work with patients to improve lung function through exercises, special medications and the use of oxygen equipment. This experienced team incorporates evidence-based practice and state-of-the-art technologies in their practice to improve patient experience while at our hospitals and clinics.

As the Registered Respiratory Therapist II, you will help to provide professional, compassionate respiratory therapy care to patients and their families, including the delivery cardiorespiratory and related services and serving as a technical resource on all aspects of respiratory care. We are looking for someone with great communications and patient care skills, the ability work in collaboratively in a team-oriented atmosphere and a commitment to delivering the highest quality health care to Hawai‘i’s people.

Minimum Qualifications: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC). Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatrics Advanced Life Support (PALS) CPR cards. Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification. Current Hawai‘i State Respiratory Therapist License.

Preferred Qualifications: One (1) year respiratory care or related experience.
