THIS IS A TEMPORARY EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

Position Summary:   This position will coordinate activities between Tidal Basin’s Project Management Office and the client’s State Disaster Recovery Coordinator’s (SDRC) Office to include responsibilities related to project/program planning, operational logistics, vendor coordination and management, stakeholder engagement and other related duties in connection with disaster response and recovery efforts.  The successful candidate will be located in the SDRC’s Office to ensure effective liaise and coordination between the relevant interim housing stakeholders to include representatives from the federal, state and local governments and other community partners such as NGOs and community-based organizations. This position is expected to be a cadre staff role working 40-hours per week as needed for the project.

Job Duties and Responsibilities include:

 

  • Coordinate project management activities, resources, equipment and information

  • Break projects into doable actions and set timeframes

  • Liaise with clients to identify and define requirements, scope and objectives

  • Facilitate the assignment of tasks for the SDRC’s office in connection with disaster recovery activities and assist with schedule management

  • Work with stakeholders/partners to provide critical metrics to support reporting that may be required for federal and state financial resources

  • Work alongside Tidal Basin and the SDRC Office to identify, analyze and mitigate risks associated with project activities

  • Work with other agencies inclusive of Hawaii’s Department of Human Services to facilitate the planning of housing program and project activities related to rental assistance and construction management activities that support interim/permanent housing solutions

  • Use established project/program management tools to track project progression in accordance with established timeframes and within prescribed budgets

  • Prepare status reports as needed and required by the SDRC and other relevant stakeholders

  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, plans and reports

  • Work cross-functionally with corporate support departments to plan, facilitate and implement operational efficiencies in support of disaster housing solutions

  • Perform other operational and administrative functions as required

    Skills and Competencies:

     

  • Proven work experience as a Planning/Project Coordinator or similar role

  • Experience with state or federal housing programs

  • Experience in project management, from conception to delivery

  • An ability to prepare and interpret flowcharts, schedules and step-by-step action plans

  • Solid organizational skills, including multitasking and time-management

  • Strong client-facing and teamwork skills

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

  • Ability to work independently but also in group settings to facilitate subject-matter dialogue with stakeholders 

  • Strong communication and organizational skills 

    Required Education and Experience:

     

  • 3-5 years in planning, program/project management, public administration, or related field

  • Bachelor’s degree in public administration, emergency management, political science, business administration, planning or similar field of study
