Queen's Health System OR Assistant - Housekeeping Manamana (Full-Time, 40, Varied Shifts) in Honolulu, Hawaii

RESPONSIBILITIES

I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for transporting patients, assisting with patient preps and positioning, and performing other duties such as processing instruments, restocking supplies, and cleaning equipment according to prescribed procedures.

II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Essential: standing, walking, stooping/bending, kneeling, climbing stairs, squatting, twisting body, finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking, lifting weight up to 19 pounds; transporting patients on gurneys; carrying usual weight of 25 pounds; reaching above, at and below shoulder level, repetitive arm/hand motions, static gripping of an object for prolonged periods, frequent gripping of an object.

• Occasional: sitting, crawling, walking on uneven ground.

• Operates razor, clippers, restraints, gurneys, mop or housekeeping equipment, ice machine, addressograph, pneumatic tube, autoclave, ICU beds, hypothermia unit/pad, Sequential Compression stockings and unit, Baer Hugger, Roller, Bovie unit/pencil, telephone, slider.

III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.

• Exposure to blood products, body fluids, secretions, patient diseases, chemicals and materials typical in surgery.

IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:

• Ability to read, speak and understand English.

• General academic background necessary to understand basic asepsis and sterile techniques.

• Current certification in BLS/HCP.

B. EXPERIENCE:

• Experience as transporter and/or patient care preferred.

• Ability to perform simple functions using personal computer preferred.
