Meta Energy Manager in Honolulu, Hawaii

Summary:

Our data centers are the foundation upon which our rapidly scaling infrastructure efficiently delivers our innovative services. Meta's Energy Team is seeking a commercially experienced and self-motivated energy professional to help us grow and manage our data center portfolio to ensure a reliable, cost effective, and sustainable energy supply with a focus in both regulated and unregulated markets. In addition, this person will help manage electricity regulation, policy and utility relationships for our growing fleet of data centers. The Energy Manager will support the continued development and execution of Meta's global energy strategy centered on a supply portfolio of cost competitive clean and renewable energy sources consistent with the company’s overall strategic objectives. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of commercial success in utility negotiations and work in both regulated markets like WECC and RTO markets like MISO and PJM, as well as knowledge of a broader spectrum of energy supply issues including commercial, regulatory, market, technical, and financial expertise.

Required Skills:

Energy Manager Responsibilities:

  1. Partner with the Site Selection Team to help identify new locations and negotiate all necessary energy agreements for new data centers

  2. Actively manage commercial relationships for data centers located in a variety of energy markets in the United States

  3. Develop and grow relationships with key utility partners, market participants, regulators, policy makers and other stakeholders

  4. Partner with legal resources to develop and refine commercial arrangements for existing facilities while managing the structures required to serve our facilities with reliable, cost-effective, sustainable energy

  5. Interface with internal organizations including data center on-site staff, sustainability, policy, communications, design, construction, legal, and finance

  6. Monitor regulatory processes and influence rate-making and energy supply solutions offered by utilities, other suppliers, and market operators

  7. Support continued development and execution of Meta's energy supply strategy for data centers

  8. Stay informed of the technical, market, and regulatory developments in the energy industry and communicate key trends, risks and potential impacts to management

  9. Lead and support various energy projects as needed

  10. Ability to travel domestically, as needed (25% likely)

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, environmental, or energy related discipline

  2. 8+ years of experience in navigating commercial energy issues associated with customer loads and new customer locations

  3. Experience at representing business interests to the leadership teams of potential suppliers, utilities, governments, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders

  4. Working knowledge of utility ratemaking and cost of service principles

  5. Working knowledge of transmission, distribution, and utility interconnection processes

  6. Experience managing multiple projects and collaborating with internal staff, utility providers, consultants, and external stakeholders

  7. Experience with communication including communicating commercial, regulatory, market, and contractual details to all organizational levels

  8. Proficiency in standard document and analytics platforms (Excel, PowerPoint, Google Docs, etc.)

Public Compensation:

$188,000/year to $256,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
