Position Title: After-Hours Facilities Technician Reports To: Tool Room Supervisor

Position Summary: PSI is the largest privately owned shipyard in Hawaii, with two of the largest dry docks in the state. We have been in business since 1944 and have a large labor force of skilled craftsman with a full support staff of professionals who comprise of engineering, project management, QA, EHS, accounting, contracts, and human resources.

We are seeking an After-Hours Facilities Technician. The After-Hours Facilities Technician monitors access to facility to control traffic to and from property. Opens gate to allow entrance or exit of authorized individuals. Checks equipment and buildings for signs of intrusion, fire, or damage and contacts authorities as required. Assist the Facilities department with maintenance and light repairs on assigned equipment and facilities. Ensure that facility grounds are well maintained by performing routine landscaping, weed whacking and general maintenance.

  • Perform all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards
  • Meet productivity goals and quality standards as set by management

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Performs maintenance and light repairs on assigned equipment and facilities
  • Identify and report any major repairs
  • Perform routine landscaping on the facility grounds and weed whacking when needed.
  • Forklift certification or able to obtain certification.
  • Take initiative to improve the appearance of equipment and facilities.
  • Work with little or no supervision.
  • Able to write an incident report.
  • Patrol the premises to ensure all equipment and spaces are in good working order (not to exceed every two hours).
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education, Training and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Basic understanding of or ability to quickly learn the equipment and facilities to be maintained.
  • Ability to read and understand written directions.
  • Proven experience as a Handyman, Building Maintenance Technician or related field.
  • Experience using hardware tools.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift to 50 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the facilities.
  • Must be able to access all parts of the company equipment.
  • Prolonged periods of standing.

Additional Information:

  • Must show proof of your legal right to work in the United States
  • This position requires US Citizenship due to clearance required for base access
  • Must be able to successfully obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
  • Must be able to successfully obtain a Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) Credential to gain access to federally controlled work sites
  • All candidates must submit to and pass a post-offer drug screening and a background check before employment begins.Failure to complete any of these steps will result in disqualification
  • Valid State of Hawaii drivers license in good standing, class 3 or higher
  • Candidates must have access to reliable transportation to get to work nd other job sites on time for the start of shift
