About the Position

Protection of Goodyear associates, property, and visitors to campus facilities. Patrol Akron campus and surrounding facilities. Being vigilant in identifying risks and taking the appropriate actions to mitigate risks. Assist with supervising contract security staff and providing training to enhance their range of knowledge / expertise and take corrective action pertaining to any operational gaps to ensure Goodyear's interests are protected. Conduct necessary follow-up actions pertaining to security incidents, issues, surveys, or areas of specialization; and instituting new security policies and procedures when necessary to ensure an effective and efficient security operation.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Protect Company Assets - Become familiar with security systems (staff, policies & procedures, electronic equipment/hardware, computer software/databases, services) necessary to maintain a business environment free from serious interruptions. Respond to emergencies and risks that threaten people and property that could result in substantial financial losses to the company. Initiate or conduct investigations as required under the direction of Corporate Security management

  • Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) - Monitor incoming customer and emergency telephone calls to ensure that they are handled effectively and that each is documented for managerial review. Initiate and maintain current emergency contact lists. Consult with and advise corporate executives and managers of functional departments of potentially substantial business-related issues. Ensure distribution of electronically generated Security reports to appropriate personnel as required

  • Maintain Security Staff Performance - Evaluate performance efficiencies of yourself and contract security to ensure that operating standards are met in a professional manner. Take part in continuous training as a process of improving the quality of performance and services provided

  • Policy & Procedure Compliance - Enforce company and departmental directives established by Director of Global Security and the Manager of Corporate Security. Provide guidance and assistance to security staff pertaining to clarification of policy & procedure items as necessary. Ensure that violations are properly documented utilizing electronically generated Security reports and distributed accordingly to appropriate management

  • Maintain Electronic Security Systems and Department Equipment - Develop working knowledge of access control, CCTV surveillance and alarm monitoring systems; radios; cruisers; and other necessary security equipment to ensure availability and expectations of optimum performance

Required Experience and Education:

  • High School Diploma & at least some course work in security/criminal justice related field

  • Associate degree in criminal justice & business administration

  • 3 years security experience plus training/experience in security area of expertise, or service as a Goodyear security intern (which substitutes as the "training" & "experience" requirements)

  • Basic knowledge & experience in the security field, military police, or public law enforcement & investigations

Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Life-safety training including first-aid & CPR

  • Fundamental knowledge of criminal law applicable to private security

  • Knowledge of basic patrol techniques

  • Successful completion of police training school or private training academy

  • Basic self-defense & "use of force" knowledge
