Environmental Services Working Supervisor - 2nd Shift Description The Veterans\' Home in Holyoke is seeking a hard-working and collaborative professional for our Evening Shift Environmental Services (EVS) Supervisor. The incumbent for this position is responsible for the Evening Shift EVS team to maintain the Home\'s clean, sanitary, and attractive conditions. The selected individual will also perform cleaning functions to include sweeping, dust and wet mopping floor surfaces, cleaning windows, walls, woodwork, and emptying trash receptacles. Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive): Coordinates and performs the activities of the assigned units to ensure effective operations and compliance with established standards Aids new employees with in-service and on the job training Prepares all work assignments for the Evening Shift staff, to include oneself Participates in the completion of housekeeping tasks, to include but is not limited to, floor cleaning, interior space cleaning, rest room cleaning, using appropriate equipment and supplies Coordinates the floor cleaning program and cleaning schedule for the stairwells and elevators Infectious waste pick up Covers wherever necessary during help shortages, vacations, illnesses, etc. Basic knowledge of computers and their use pertaining to the Veterans\' Home in Holyoke Housekeeping program Complies with all VA, JCAHO and DPH requirements Schedule: This is a full-time (40 hours/week) position working from 2:30 pm - 11:00 pm Alternating weekend and holiday schedule Note: This is 24 hour/7 days a week long-term care facility and as a result, the Veterans\' Home in Holyoke may require this individual to be present during nontraditional hours when circumstances dictate the operational need Required Qualifications: Ability to deal tactfully with others Ability to life and carry heavy objects Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of safety practices and procedures followed in institutional housekeeping Ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with others Skilled in the use of using a computer PLEASE SEE THE VETERANS HOME IN HOLYOKE FOR COMPLETE JOB DESCRIPTION
