The Neil Jones Food Company is an industry leader, processing superior quality fresh-packed, vine-ripened California tomatoes and Pacific Northwest fruit.Headquartered in Vancouver, Washington, NJFC has been providing our nations discerning foodservice, retail, industrial and institutional customers with the finest quality canned and pouched products for over 50 years. NJFC operates three production facilities: Northwest Packing in Vancouver, WA.; San Benito Foods, in Hollister, CA; and Toma-Tek in Firebaugh, CA.

We are looking for aQuality Assurance Warehouse Inspectorto conduct quality checks on outbound finished goods and incoming raw ingredients and packaging materials. Documents and reports results. Manages issues with substandard raw ingredients and defective packaging materials with suppliers. Investigates and analyzes customer complaints and internal finished product issues. This is a non-exempt position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspects incoming, in-process and finished goods for compliance with established quality specifications, Letters of Guarantee, and other relevant documentation.
  • Investigates daily finished product scrap issues to implement and execute a scrap reduction program.
  • Samples and tests quality checks on incoming raw ingredients and packaging materials for conformance to specifications.
  • Conducts root cause analysis of nonconformance with established standards and provides timely feedback with solutions to Materials and Quality teams.
  • Identifies and reports damaged, pest infestation, scrap or discrepant material.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma; associates degree in food science, Quality Assurance, or related field preferred; or any equivalent combination of training, education and experience that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the duties of the position.
  • Two years relevant experience, preferably in a food processing facility or operation; skill in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Knowledge of HACCP, Critical Control Points (CCPs), and fundamental principles of physical and biological sciences (e.g., chemistry, biology), food science, and technology.
  • Read, write, and speak fluent English to successfully accomplish essential functions; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test, work extended schedule and weekends during the fresh pack season, typically July to early October.

Compensation:

The wage range is $21 - $25.40, based on experience and qualifications.
