DESCRIPTION OF WORK This position involves journey-level professional civil engineering work in two distinct settings: the Consultant Design Squad and the In-House Design Squad. In the Consultant Design Squad, the main responsibilities include preparing and conducting technical design reviews for submissions and plans related to highway, bridge, and multi-modal projects of varying complexity levels. Additionally, this role involves preparing scopes of work, advertisements, and agreements using ECMS (Electronic Contract Management System) for projects that will be contracted with consultants. The engineer is also responsible for estimating the man-hours required for engineering tasks and reviewing consultant proposals to determine the most qualified consultants for the job. Furthermore, you will assist in the consultant selection process, meet with consultants to address any project-related inquiries, review and provide feedback on consultants' proposed man-hour estimates and technical approach to the scope of work, and review consultant invoices for payment preparation.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Hollidaysburg. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Successful completion of the Civil Engineer Trainee training program (commonwealth title); or Five years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; or Four years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and an engineer-in-training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists, and an associate degree in civil engineering technology or a closely related engineering discipline; or One year of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a closely related engineering discipline. Special Requirement: This position requires possession of a valid driver's license.
Other Requirements: PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title. You must be able to perform essential job functions.
